KDE - polyester theme?

I'm trying to find the 'polyester' theme for KDE.
I've searched the forums and couldn't find it.
I've run pacman -Ss polyester and drew a blank.
Is it available in Arch?

It's available in the AUR.

Re: KDE - polyester theme?

Thanks.  I downloaded the tarball.  Unzipped it.  Ran ./configure then make then make install.  Blowed if I can find it though.  I'm a n00b at this compiling from source thing so please correct me if I've done something wrong  sad

Re: KDE - polyester theme?

Are you sure you're looking in the right place? You want the "Window Decorations" section of the Control Center, not "Theme Manager".

cool, polyester rocks.... !!! REALLY NICE!
I'm using gtk-qt-engine to make my GTK2 programs look like my kde apps, and they are faster with this theme!! I like it.

You probably wanted to unzip it and cd into that directory and run makepkg, not ./configure.  Once you have the package built, you'll want to do pacman -U [package].  Personally, I use aurbuild, which itself is in the AUR, and can be installed the same way.  Once you have it installed and configured, you can automagically install most stuff from the aur quickly and easily.

Re: KDE - polyester theme?

Thanx.  I got it working with configure-make-make install.  I'm new to Arch so I'll have to do some background reading on the AUR/makepkg/aurbuild thing wink

Read up on ABS, AUR, and PKGBUILDs.  You could have installed polyester in a way that would have allowed pacman to manage it.  I know when I first moved to Arch these were confusing concepts for me, but there are a few very good wiki articles on these key concepts.  I still suck at making PKGBUILDs, but they are a very useful tool.
