I've been trying out the KDE plasma desktop after years of GNOME but no matter if I use GDM or SDDM and regardless of screen energy saving setting (off or 10 min default) my screen goes to sleep after 30 seconds.
I have been enjoying the plasma desktop but this is quite maddening ![]()
When I switch back to GNOME the screen sleeps at the configured time.

I find out that back in 2017 I added a custom desktop file to my user's startup directory to run `xset s 60 dpms 0 0 0`. I think I did this because screen sleep was broken back then with my Radeon GPU. It seems that didn't do anything in GNOME but worked in KDE. Once I removed that file screen sleep is working as expected now.
