Touchpad is not recognized after BIOS update

It seems that after I've updated the BIOS to a very recent version (30 days old), the touchpad is no longer working, nor is it detected. I'm on a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 3 11ADA05.

Luckily I got hold to some dmesg-ish output from my journalctl before the update. These are the entries that appear, when the touchpad is recognized:

kernel: input: MSFT0001:00 04F3:3072 Mouse as /devices/platform/AMDI0010:01/i2c-1/i2c-MSFT0001:00/0018:04F3:3072.0003/input/input9
kernel: input: MSFT0001:00 04F3:3072 Touchpad as /devices/platform/AMDI0010:01/i2c-1/i2c-MSFT0001:00/0018:04F3:3072.0003/input/input11
kernel: hid-generic 0018:04F3:3072.0003: input,hidraw2: I2C HID v1.00 Mouse [MSFT0001:00 04F3:3072] on i2c-MSFT0001:00

I tried to dump some info with i2cdetect, but nothing shows up. Reading the man pages of these i2c tools, I decided to not continue with that, since it mentions that the wrong usage can inflict damage to the bus or connected devices. Aside from the dmesg output, I have several things like an old Xorg.log or a recent libinput list-devices file, but I figured since the device is not recognized anymore, that they are rather useless. I tried booting up Ubuntu but there the touchpad isn't recognised, either. Windows works fine. If I could acquire the old BIOS firmware, I'd try downgrading, but I guess this means opening a support call to lenovo.

Does anyone have a clue on how to continue with troubleshooting?
