Firefox - Sound gets muted on different tabs when playing a video.

Hi Everyone,

So I have this strange issue. When I am watching twitch and I open another tab on firefox to watch a youtube video the sound is completely muted and vice versa. The only way to resolve it is to close the tab where the audio is currently being played and refresh the page where I want the audio to work.

I am using alsamixer not pulse and I have made sure all the channels are not muted.

Kernel: 5.14.5-arch1-1

not using any audio related firefox plugins.

Firefox's ALSA support is very wonky to not really properly implemented, did you do any alsa config that would manipulate the default device?

Afaik it hardcodes to use hw:0 if the default pcm isn't listed in aplay -L which is synonymous with direct HW access and the symptom you are seeing precisely an expected outcome of that.
