[Resolved] Having issues mounting samba share using mount.cifs

I've tried to setup samba mount points on boot by using the systemd unit method and the /etc/fstab method described here:

but in both cases am having a similar error:

% sudo systemctl start mnt-project.mount
Job failed. See "journalctl -xe" for details.

Trying to mount using /etc/fstab shows a similar error about not being able to allocate crypto cmas(aes) and md4.  I'm at a loss of what to do.  Any ideas?

You either didn't reboot after a kernel update or forgot to mount /boot before the update or are booting from the root partition.
(The latter two are less likely since eg. cifs is loaded)

=> reboot, try again.
