xrandr --auto messes with the resolution on my laptop

Hey Guys.

so basically I am mirroring my laptop screen to my TV via HDMI.

If I do

xrandr --auto

the resolution on my TV is fine, but on my laptop screen, it looks misplaced. Like, when for example my browser window is not using all the space my laptop screen provides.

Is there a solution to this?

Re: xrandr --auto messes with the resolution on my laptop

xrandr -q

Sounds like the outputs have different dimensions and the workspace being restricted to the overlapping area.
