I try to use Gnome's autostart to start an application after booting.
Sometimes it works, but sometimes not. When it doesn't work I see following in the log:
First:
GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.ServiceUnknown: The name org.freedesktop.Notifications was not provided by any .service filesA few lines later:
Oct 22 10:16:50 bac dbus-daemon[766]: [session uid=1001 pid=766] Successfully activated service 'org.gnome.Shell.Notifications'I guess that this app actually requires org.gnome.Shell.Notifications. I already checked desktop-entry-spec, but I don't see any option that would make the autostart entry in .config/autostart/ wait for org.gnome.Shell.Notifications.
Using X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay=120 didn't help neither. I still see sometimes the same error message in the log.
Also X-GNOME-UsesNotifications=true doesn't help.
Am I missing something? How to make Gnome autostart wait for service?

Then don't use the Gnome autostart feature, but a systemd user service with the respective dependency.

And do you have the accountsservice package installed, then you need to install it and run the service.

True that would be an option as well. But maybe I should open an issue upstream, as I actually expect options such as X-GNOME-UsesNotifications=true to wait until org.freedesktop.Notifications is available.

Yes I do have accountsservice installed, as it is a dependency of gnome-shell anyways. Do I have to configure something here?
Maybe a more general question, I just found X-GNOME-Autostart-Delay and X-GNOME-UsesNotifications on stackoverflow, but somehow I don't find the official documentation!?

It is not enough to have the accountsservice package installed, you need to enable it
systemctl enable accounts-daemon.serviceEdit.
Sorry I made a mistake, already corrected.

systemctl enable accountsservice.service
There is no accountsservice.service when I look here there is only one systemd service.
/usr/lib/systemd/system/accounts-daemon.serviceThat one is active and running.
So I don't think that accountsservice is related to this issue.
