No video output after monitor blanks due to inactivity

My system is fully up to date; WM is Wayfire, under Wayland.

Long story short my monitor does what many do and turns off after a while if nothing is happening on screen, I'm completely sure it's not software because I've the disabled DPMS time out-ing in the Wayfire configuration file.
The only difference is that after it does that, I stop getting video from my machine. I have tried replugging the cable and switching the input to another empty port and back to HDMI, only to get an angry monitor due to no input.

I tried running the following command to see if this would turn it on, but nothing. It did turn off though..

wlr-randr --output HDMI-A-1 --off; sleep 5; wlr-randr --output HDMI-A-1 --on

In order to get a few more possibilities out of the way, I have tried using the above command to "simulate" this, and can tell my system isn't frozen as audio still plays. However, the keyboard and mouse do nothing.

The only "solution" is a reboot, which is, to say the least, quite the inconvenience.
What steps should I take to begin troubleshooting this?

Thanks.
