[SYNOPSYS] I found this, answer #39 and it works.
I have several scripts that provide notifications with notify-send that work when run for the shell. However, when run as a cron job no notifications appear on the desktop.
This is my /usr/share/dbus-1/services/org.freedesktop.Notifications.service config:
[D-BUS Service]
Name=org.freedesktop.Notifications
Exec=/usr/lib/notification-daemon-1.0/notification-daemonHow do I get notifications to work from scripts run as a cron job?

Backward compatibility is for the masses. There's no dual-boot here.
