[Solved]"Name or service not known"

I'm using iwd to connect to the internet as standalone.  I think I did not create my /etc/hosts file before enabling iwd as a systemctl service.  Hopefully there is an easy fix.  Using resolv.conf doesn't seem to be the answer.  Thank you to anyone with great patience.

Re: [Solved]"Name or service not known"

If you want help finding the solution, you should start by describing the problem.  You've posted an error message in the title, but when / where / how frequently do you get that error message?  What is the problem?

But as for /etc/hosts, you should have created that when you installed your system.  If you didn't, review the installation guide and do so now.  However, an incomplete /etc/hosts doesn't seem a likely source of that error message *unless* the error is just from trying to connect to "localhost" or similar.

Re: [Solved]"Name or service not known"

The error message is from ping google.com, also no other internet services are working, as I would suspect since ping fails.  Problem began after boot from a fresh install.  I thought maybe my out-of-order configuration of /etc/hosts before leaving iwd as the network manager caused the problem.

Re: [Solved]"Name or service not known"

I missed the step in IWD somehow to create the file /etc/iwd/main.conf and insert

 [General]
EnableNetworkConfiguration=true
