My laptop consists of 3 speakers (1 sub-woofer and 2 front facing speakers) and I just can't get the sub-woofer to work. Alsa mixer does seem to have a bass speaker option, but that just seems to mute all the speakers when disabled. A lot of people also recommended to mess with hdajackretask, but after installing boot override no changes are visible. I didn't make many changes to the default config, only edited these lines in pulse daemon.conf:
remixing-produce-lfe = yes
remixing-consume-lfe = yes
lfe-crossover-freq = 500Also, something worth pointing out is that ALSA shows that the sound chip is ALC287, but the spec sheet says it's ALC3306.
