Stutter in mouse pointer when using the touchpad of an Ideapad 330

I'm using a cheap Lenovo Ideapad 330-15IGM.

The mouse pointer stutters on more than half the boot-ups, when using the touchpad. Using an external mouse is fine.

How do I diagnose the issue? Might it be a problem with the drivers?

Re: Stutter in mouse pointer when using the touchpad of an Ideapad 330

I have been experiencing the same for at least 2 years, and my workaround is to hibernate/unhibernate, which seems to fix it. Hopefully a solution can be found. I am willing to cooperate to solve it.

This seems relevant:

I don't really like the idea of compiling custom kernel code unless absolutely necessary, so if I can't find a solution soon I might try build it and see if it works.
