[SOLVED] xorg no longer works after update

Dear All,

I updated archlinux using pacman -Syu. After that xorg no longer works.
/var/log/Xorg.0.log is below. Anyone any ideas?

Kind Regards,
Chris

Needs the nvidia-470x packages or switch to nouveau.  Please use code tags for commands,  their outputs and file listings.

Re: [SOLVED] xorg no longer works after update

Hello. Looks like a kernel mismatch. No module can be loaded. Did you regenerate the Mkinitcpio and other hooks?
It's necessary with the official driver. This is maybe the case with nouveau as well?

Re: [SOLVED] xorg no longer works after update

Dear All,

It appears that nvidea declared my video card legacy and now I have to get
a different driver. I installed nvidia-390xx and nvidia-390xx-utils from the
AUR and it appears to be working again.

I also added some [ code] tags in my original post.

Many thanks,
Chris

Re: [SOLVED] xorg no longer works after update

Going to the 470xx drivers will be less of a downgrade and supported longer than going to nvidia-390xx
