[SOLVED] Graphics glitches in i3 wm

Some applications in i3 suffer from weird graphics glitches. Here is an example of a menu in Firefox.

It seems this is somehow related to mouse movement. Selecting an entry by using the keyboard works without issues. All apps are not affected, but I haven't been able to figure out what makes the difference. For example, some GTK apps work properly and some do not. The problem is particularly bad with VirtualBox VMs.

It also seems this issue is restricted to i3. For example, Firefox in Gnome is not affected.

I'm using Intel UHD Graphics 620 with the i915 driver. The system is up-to-date, but the issue has been bugging me for some time now, so it is not related to any recent change.

Has anybody experienced anything similar? Any suggestions?

I apologize if this has been answered before. My search-fu was not solid enough to help me find the answer on my own.

It's a bug in mesa: persisted for several releases now.

Oh, ok. That's too bad.

I read about some mesa bug but for some reason it seemed to me that my problem was not related... Well, sorry about the somewhat unnecessary post then. And thanks for the info!
