Swap slowly increases thought hibernations

Hi everyone, I have a laptop with 4gb of ram, and I intalled arch with a 8gb swap partition (in theory it's even too much).
Hibernatikon goes well for a bunch of times, but each time swap partition increases and never releases this memory, now I have almost 7gb of swap filled, probably with things I closed days ago.

Anyone knows any configuration to fix this? I neither manage to this work well in ubuntu.

I know hibernation is not a common thing though linux users, but I have been doing this for years in windows and it's an habit that I didn't want to leave. I seeking for some help.

Thanks! smile

Re: Swap slowly increases thought hibernations

Do you have an actual problem? I.e. does the next hibernation fail? The kernel doesn't clean up swap if there's no inherent reason to i.e. You are not accessing or overwriting these old pages. If you want to be sure a swapoff/swapon will drop it.

Yes, i wrote this just after hibernation fails, swapon/swapoff works but also closes a lot of things currently opened, I think something is not working well cleaning swap and returning this memory to ram when it's possible.
