Internet/Wifi stops during locked screen (lightdm)

I am using arch linux with lightdm. When I lock the session with

dm-tools lock

the session gets locked correctly. However, internet/wifi processes get stop/locked, too. When resuming the session processes that needed the internet did not proceed, e.g. downloading something, browser sessions to websites etc. When I resume the session, everything resumes normally, but it did not proceed while being locked.

How can I keep my internet services running while having the system locked?
