Can't overclock my monitor.

I was previously using windows and there i had a possibility to get my monitor to 78HZ. I tried  to do the same on gnu/linux following the arch wiki. First: cvt 1920 1080 78
# 1920x1080 77.91 Hz (CVT) hsync: 88.19 kHz; pclk: 230.00 MHz
Modeline "1920x1080_78.00"  230.00  1920 2064 2264 2608  1080 1083 1088 1132 -hsync +vsync
Then adding a new mode with xrandr: xrandr --newmode "1920x1080_78.00"  230.00  1920 2064 2264 2608  1080 1083 1088 1132 -hsync +vsync
But i get the following error; X Error of failed request:  BadName (named color or font does not exist)
  Major opcode of failed request:  140 (RANDR)
  Minor opcode of failed request:  16 (RRCreateMode)
  Serial number of failed request:  25
  Current serial number in output stream:  25

Don't do that, https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/General_guidelines

The driver filters away the modeline because it's out of spec. Whether you can maybe override that depends on the driver. Whether that's a good idea at all is a different question.

% cvt12 1920 1080 78 -b
# 1920x1080 @ 78.000 Hz Reduced Blank (CVT) field rate 78.000 Hz; hsync: 87.438 kHz; pclk: 174.88 MHz
Modeline "1920x1080_78.00_rb2"  174.88  1920 1928 1960 2000  1080 1107 1115 1121 +hsync -vsync

gets you into the area of the 173.00 MHz you'd get for the plain 60Hz.
