Touchpad Acceleration Speed Drops Randomly

Hello,
So like I said in the title, with no apparent pattern, my touchpad speed drops randomly. I searched thourgh the forums for a solution high and low but I couldn't even find the same problem.

I recreated the problem with a script which changes the speed with "xinput set-prop":

I'm making the same hand movements throughout the video but as you can see after 2nd second, cursor slows down.

Also the output of "sudo libinput debug-events --verbose" gives no information about the problem when it was happening:

Try continuously logging the output of

xinput list-props $DEVICE

while moving the cursor and see if values are constant. If they are, I'd suspect a h/w related issue.

Values are completely constant. I'm really suspicious about this being an hardware issue because the device is only 2 months old. I'm going to try it on Windows to see if the bug is present there too. If it is, I'm really unlucky.

I have the same laptop and I have that problem too. Maybe it's laptop related? I mostly experience this while charging the laptop.

I'm sorry to hear that you have the same problem but also really happy to see that I'm not the only one with this problem.

So if you're having the same issue it's probably not a hardware problem. Can you share the output of pacman -Qqe to see if we have the same (and maybe suspicious) programs?

Not so surprisingly you're using Xorg too. At the weekend, I'm going to try using Wayland for a couple of days to see if the problem is caused by Xorg or the kernel.
