[SOLVED] Are "insider"/beta packages allowed in the AUR?

Hi,

I was in the middle of packaging a note-taking application whose developer has opted to introduce an "insider" release channel that is much further ahead of the "stable" one. It even has its own repo. The package was going to be appended with `-insider-bin` to clarify.
I wanted to refresh my memory on package etiquette so I was reading through https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Arch_p … guidelines and saw this line:

Stable packages package stable releases: Release candidates (i.e. 1.0.0-rc1), alpha (e.g. 1.0.0-alpha1) and beta (e.g. 1.0.0-beta1) releases are not allowed...

I couldn't decide whether that was referring to strictly core/community/extra packages or all packages including AUR.
I've definitely seen nightly/beta packages in the AUR (not to mention `-git` ones), but don't want to add one if it's frowned upon.

Thanks!

The notion is "stable" packages. If explicitly are going to create a specifically designated beta channel package then I don't see the issue and I also generally don't expect these kind of rules to be strictly enforced for  AUR packages. The repos also have developer edition of e.g. firefox which is technically a beta.

Got it, thanks. I figured that was the case but just wanted to confirm since there's not *really* a distinction of stable vs. testing in the AUR besides package name as I mentioned.
Thank you!

Thanks for the reminder.  I just downloaded the developers edition.
