Built-In Speakers not working (Alsa-PulseAudio)

My Built-In speakers failed to work after following the troubleshooting guide for static noise It stopped working after I restarted pulseaudio and it never came back since. Bluetooth headphones work though.

I tried restarting the whole computer, reinstalling, poking around and I found that I don't have any available audio profiles for the built in audio: Built in audio no output profile

If you need additional information I will gladly provide it.

Did you do anything else other than changing the default sample rate? And to which did you change it? Post the outputs of

sudo fuser -v /dev/snd/*
pacmd list-cards
systemctl --user status pulseaudio
systemctl --user mask pulseaudio{,.socket} --now
pulseaudio -vvv #Post that output

PS: Your original issue could've very likely been simply related to the Mic-Boost which you can try lowering with

amixer -c1 set 'Mic Boost',0 0 0

weird, the mask should've stopped pulseaudio, however in the actual pacmd output we see that all your profiles are present and you simply selected input only.

Does

pacmd set-card-profile alsa_card.pci-0000_00_1b.0 output:analog-stereo+input:analog-stereo

not fix this?

What's the full message in that status line? There shouldn't be a stat error normally. Do you have two different pulseaudio's running somehow?

ps aux | grep pulse

From the outputs we have I'd say undo the mask

systemctl --user unmask pulseaudio{,.socket} --now

and check again, everything is in order here at least according to what you posted right now.

Well, it does work now. But I tried it in discord and all I hear is a feedback loop. (It might be related to this...)

Discord is on Built in Audio Analog Stereo for both Output and Input. They are the only ones available.

If you're asserting that from the POV of some GUI make sure that virtual streams aren't hidden. Technically there might be loopbacks on the HW side check/post

amixer -c1 #or 0 if the index has switched

There is a HW Loopback and it is disabled, but as suspected you have a full blast mic boost, does the crackling/mic noise situation improve if you lower that?

You surmise it's related to a very specific procedure, unless you executed that then this is completely irrelevant. Post the outputs of these pacmd commands during a "broken" situation.

And yes! My Mic Boost was set way too high. I still have some static but oh well.

Re: Built-In Speakers not working (Alsa-PulseAudio)

Hold on, I tried the discord mic test again after the mic boost fix and it's somehow back to normal.  I have no idea why it happened but its back working now.

What do you think the problem was?
