This is a very weird scenario. Everything worked fine for around a year, 24/7 working, updated weekly (and rebooted after updates).
Yesterday I had found a warning which I don't recall, there was an emergency shell which told me that something failed (i do not remember sorry) . I rebooted it and I have ended up in a error message very similar to https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=234336 . I remember that there were the messages "status: { DRDY }" and "failed command: READ FPDMA QUEUED" .
I had a main ssd drive (an 120 G ssd) and a secondary hdd connected.
I had unplugged both of them and i checked them on another computer.
I ran
sudo smartctl -a /dev/sdhon the ssd and everything looked fine (at least, to me).

Then I have booted the laptop via an archlinux ISO usb with the ssd only, I had removed the fstab entry for the secondary hdd and then I tried booting it with no success.
It always hangs after the "Loading initial ramdisk ..." message.
I used to use linux-zen kernel, i had tried installing the normal linux kernel (from usb booting) but I get the same behaviour.
I deleted nvidia drivers as first (I tried an egpu setup in the past) but probably it was useless doing so.
In journalctl logs there are no relevant entries about any failure at all, it seems like they have not been recorded at all (I have no logs earlier than yesterday's ones before the crash).
I tried booting also with fallbacks and even recovery. Recovery shows more messages than the other two, but they are unreadable (module i915 is required to have them readable). Mainly I expect they were about xhci_pci warnings I had since a long time (USB 3.0 ports were poorly designed, too little power was provided to them).
Still, after booting via usb and arch-chrooting on the ssd, I see nothing on those logs.
in /etc/mkinitcpio.conf i only had module i915 for early loading. I tried adding intel_agp too, but nothing changed (I had regenerated the images with mkinitcpio -P).
I had tried reinstalling grub, recreated the boot partition (gpt + bios, bios does not support efi) but nothing changed.
i tried pacstrap on the system too.
The only boot parameter I had was "intel_idle.max_cstate=1" due to a hardware bug in Baytrail architectures.
Do you have any clue on how could I make it work again? It seems so weird to me that it boots from the usb key but not from the ssd
I have no clue on what other command may I run to provide you more info.
