Hello, I've come across an issue on my Arch laptop installation. For context, both my desktop and laptop use MATE and Caja as the desktop and file manager respectively, and on my desktop computer the icons show properly (even when using the same theme and icon set I use on my laptop) .cpp files show the cpp icon, .py show the python icon etc. This, however, is not the case on my laptop, where it shows a blank page as a default icon for almost all of the text files.
I've troubleshooted this issue using different themes (even the MATE default ones), the issue persists and, even weirder, the icons do show properly when navigating the sambashares of my desktop:

This is a certain directory of my desktop, shared thru samba with my laptop as the client.

This is a similarly structured directory, but on my laptop's own hard drive instead. Notice the lack of icons?
Even weirder, when right clicking->properties of a file, the window does show the correct file icon.

Solved it. I went to Control panel->file management-> previews and selected never in the show text in icons. More information at: https://ubuntu-mate.community/t/caja-sh … on/18827/8
