I see that the jdk is included in Arch, which I must say is something all distros should do.. but sadly they don't... Anyways... I do see however that it is update 8, which I always need to stay up to the latest version , which right now is update 9 according to the java.sun.com website. So should I skip installing it via pacman, and just go with the binary install?
Also, can slackware packages be installed on Arch?

It's already been flagged out of date and will be upgraded whenever the dev gets time to look at it. I would not use the binary install...you can either live with 8 temporarily, or use ABS to update the PKGBUILD and install 9 that way.

Ok, I can always try to use ABS. I would rather not have to wait.. I've been using 9 for awhile now and would want that on arch as well.
Thanks

Yes, Java6 came out today! I'm really glad because it's improved a great deal, especially Swing, so Jacman will run even quicker from now on
