GpuWatchdog segfault with electron9

I recently posted this thread regarding Atom  and electron9 not functioning properly which I found a workaround as I mentioned in that thread.
After going back and using Atom, I've been experiencing freezes which I've traced once again to the said electron9 trouble. From journalctl, this is the message before the freeze:

Again it would be great if anyone can shed a light on this issue or can lead me on where to look to debug.
