KDE log out dialogue "Hibernate" button does nothing for some reason

When I press the power button on my Lenovo laptop I am shown what systemsettings calls the "log out dialogue". All of the buttons work (Shut down, Log out, Restart and Sleep), except the Hibernate button which causes my laptop to do nothing when I press it. I have set up a swap file and all the other stuff needed to get a computer to wake from hibernation when turned back on. I know that I have set it all up correctly because when I type "systemctl hibernate" into a terminal emulator/TTY, press the hibernate button in the application dashboard or even wait for my laptop to reach a critical battery charge my laptop goes into hibernation. When I turn my laptop back on it goes into the same state as to when it was hibernated. But this does not happen when I press the hibernate button in the log out dialogue. I think that this might be some sort of bug, but I cannot completely rule out that I might have done something wrong. Some help identifying the cause and solution to my mildly irritating little issue would be nice.

Why is this happening and can it be fixed?
Should I make a bug report on the KDE bug tracking system website?
