Tearing in KWin

I've been having issues with Kwin's tearing lately, and I have the default settings enabled for the compositor. The tearing occurs in videos especially (gnome totem, vlc, mpv) even when the compositor is on. I'm not sure if Kwin's disable compositor when the fullscreen mode is enabled with those players or not, but the issue seems to occur in windowed mode and full screen mode.

This issue happens in games too, but unlike with videos, compositor is disabled when a game is running, so the tearing is expected, but it's less annoying than in videos since I can simply enable vsync in game.

I tried to use nvidia's force composition pipeline, and since I have low-end hardware, the performance impact is noticeable especially when scrolling in applications such as Discord. I also tried using picom with a configuration I found on Github to make it work. Although the tearing is gone with picom, it of course, disables KDE's effect such as "present windows" in desktop effects to switch between two windows in the same application, which to me, is a basic functionality rather than a fancy effect.

I really want to give picom a go, since not only it removes tearing, but my desktop feels smoother as well. But it looks like it's simply incompatible with Kwin even with the right settings. Maybe I should try using a different WM too, but I'm not too familiar with it. So my only option is Kwin.

Does anyone have a suggestion? Thank you.
