Hi there!
I'm a professional 3D Artist and I work mainly with Maya, Blender, and Substance Painter. All run natively on Linux.
I've been a Linux user since 2005 I believe, but recently had to get back to Windows because I developed a severe case of tendonitis.
My tendonitis hurts a lot and I can't work with a keyboard + mouse without taking like 60 mg of Prednisone per day, so to try something different I bought a drawing tablet to see if it would help, and I've been using it for work ever since and haven't suffered from any pain while working.
The tablet in question is a Huion H320M. It does have Linux drivers and I can configure all the buttons to work as I want, but it has a terrible problem: when in Maya or Substance Painter, the camera motion is extremely choppy, in fact it pretty much only displays the frame where I am and the one where I end, not the motion in between. This makes it impossible to work on Linux.
I contacted Autodesk regarding this issue but they said it's all good on their side, so it must be a driver problem. The driver in question is coded by the community, and the Github page hasn't been updated in 2 years so I don't think I'll ever get a response from it's developer.
So before going on a hunt for a new tablet, I'd like to ask our great community if anyone has the same tablet (and Maya 2022 or Substance Painter 2021) to see if we could troubleshoot this problem.
Or even if none of you guys have the same specs, maybe there's someone out there that could help ![]()
I'm currently on Windows but I can install Arch on a separate SSD.
Cheers
