I have a problem with gnome handling of media keys which prevents them to use for different actions. I recently installed arch linux to another partition with only gnome and kodi installed to test this. The problem is that gnome' s last versions at least reserve these media keys for global actions and I cannot find a way to free them so they can be used for different actions in kodi. In gnome settings keyboard shortcuts are all disabled. Also using dconf-editor, I cannot find any entry about those keys(except XF86display, which I don't use it anyway). So how those keys are reserved by gnome? I'm interested about volume up/down/mute, play/pause, mail, www, buttons. All these don't work and only a notification box appears to notify that there isn't an action for this key(but is still reserved and cannot be used), except the volume up/down keys which change volume globally.

I found that there is a section about them. Using dconf-editor is in:
/org/gnome/settings-daemon/plugins/media-keys
And need to restart gnome for any change there to be applied.
