[SOLVED] xflock4 is not being called on lid closed

Hello, I have power manager configured to "Lock Screen" when the laptop lid is closed. When I close the lid and open it, there is a dialog indicating "None of the screen lock tools ran successfully, the screen will not be locked."

Since I have xscreensaver installed, and xflock4 is programmed to find that automatically when "xfconf-query -c xfce4-session -p /general/LockCommand" returns nothing, I decided to add some troubleshooting lines to xflock4, beginning with "touch /tmp/lock_attempt" right near the beginning.

It turns out xflock4 is not even being run when I close the lid, even though everything I can find online indicates that this is how xfce4 locks the screen when needed (including from the power manager).

Does anybody know what might be going on? What else can I look at?

Re: [SOLVED] xflock4 is not being called on lid closed

I figured out the answer (though it is not nearly clear why). Apparently, both "Screen Locker (Launch screen locker program)" and "Screensaver (Launch screensaver and locker program)" need to be enabled in the Application Autostart settings. Enabling just the second one (even though it says "screensaver /and locker/") doesn't do it. These must start some other session daemon that, in turn, runs xflock4.
