Report a problem during installation

Hi
Wired connections should be detected and operated automatically
But USB modems have a problem with this
Please fix this problem.

Re: Report a problem during installation

Connecting and detecting a wired device automatically is a convenience feature that you shouldn't really inherently rely on. Does it work if you configured it manually?  Actual mobile modems are not expected to work automatically: https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Instal … e_internet

Re: Report a problem during installation

I feel that a USB modem like the Lan modem does not need to be configured
But Wi-Fi and smart phones need to be configured.

USB modem like the Lan modem

That is a very vague description.

Are you referring to an usb to ethernet adapter ?
What is the brand and model of the device ?

Disliking systemd intensely, but not satisfied with alternatives so focusing on taming systemd.

Re: Report a problem during installation

The zte mf 879u at appears to be a mobile broadband modem that also allows other devices to use it as a wifi AP .

If you look at https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Mobile_broadband_modem you'll notice that several things need to be setup correctly for such devices to work on archlinux .

Those type of modems tend to be desgined excusively with a certain OS in mind and I doubt very much there's any linux distro that doesn't require some manual configuration .
