Hi,
I want to try to run Gnome Desktop again! only I kinda messed up my install ... you know like when using Xgl -- Gdm refuses to start ....
Want to clean out gnome packages installed and start again
Maybe I could start Gnome under slim but I would have to make sure all services are running is this possible say by using .xinitrc ?
TIA

hmm maybe reinstalling gnome and rm'ing the old setting .. ~/.gnome or ~/.gnome2 i think, at schoool now so can't check...
also, i think gsd will start all required services...
it's located at, /opt/gnome/libexec/gnome-settings-daemon [i think, it's definately in, sbin/ | bin/ | libexec/]

Green,
If you have libx11-1.1.1-X or something, you can try downgrading it to libx11-1.1-2. This helped me in gdm startup issue.
