{Solved}Arch linux/windows dual boot issue(s)

ok, so were gonna focus on the new problem i created, while i was trying to fix the other problem. so i was trying to fix an issue where my computer would suddenly stop detecting the wifi/bluetooth adapter after using bluetooth on linux both linux and windows no longer detect the device after reboot, last time i fixed it by plugging in a bluetooth adapter and restarting and got it to refind the device but anyway not the point.

in trying to solve this issue i decided to try a bios update. after the bios update i cant boot into arch or grub. id imagine theres going to be a lot of info requests but im really not sure what info is relevent, heres what ive tried to far, its also of note that windows forced an update on the same restart which also could have messed it up. so i cannot completely determine that it was in fact the bios update

ive tried changing bios settings (disabling csm, etc) to no avail

ive tried booting into an arch installation iso, mounting my drives, and chrooting into my arch install and reinstalling grub completely, it finds all the old grub files and even my theme (although i did notice that OS prober didnt report finding windows) but after an aperently successfull grub install i still can only boot into windows. neither grub  nor arch linux appear in my boot options.

i tried looking into if there was a way to manually direct my bios to a specific efi boot file and manually re-add grub but there does not seem to be an option for that in my bios (gigabyte aorus)

so im pretty much out of ideas, any help is welcome (with either problem, but getting back into my arch install is definitely first priority)

Re: {Solved}Arch linux/windows dual boot issue(s)

Updating the system firmware will often delete NVRAM entries, so that's normal.

Reinstalling GRUB should remake those. How did you reinstall it? It sounds like you regenerated the config, but that's totally different than installing it.

Re: {Solved}Arch linux/windows dual boot issue(s)

i used the archfi script, mounted my arch install, installed grub via the script and then regenerated the config, i couldnt find a guide on reinstalling grub that worked, when i tried doing it manually i kept getting a error from efibootmgr "efi not supported" or somesuch, not even sure i was running the correct commands to be completely honest was trying to follow random guide from several years ago with outdated info

and im reading that page of the manual but im not gonna lie its going a bit over my head, seems like its mostly suggesting solutions when an initial install didnt work, still reading,
edit: yeah not seeing anything relevent to this particular issue the section on if its not showing up in the boot options implies that its due to hardware not allowing custom additions, which we know isnt the case as it was working before. ill check back in a bit im gonna go try and play around with efivarfs command some more

Edit:2 OK I FIGURED OUT THE PROBLEM i think, i think because i have cfm enabled my ventoy usb is being booted into legacy mode and therefore cant edit the uefi boot options, and because i was using archfi to save time it didnt give me the aforementioned error... not 100% sure how to run in forced uefi mode but im gonna go work on that

Edit3: Alright all set, need to turn off cfm mode when doing repair or the archiso may not run in uefi mode properly, thanks for all your help! gonna make a new post for the weird bluetooth/wifi device problem
