Eye of GNOME (image viewer) not launching

Started happening after the big GNOME 42 update. I can't view any images because eog refuses to launch. When I run

eog image.jpg

I get this error:

Failed to register: Timeout was reached

Rebooting doesn't help either. I've reinstalled with

sudo pacman -Rcns eog && pacman -Syyu && pacman -S eog

but it still doesn't work. Interestingly, running

sudo eog image.jpg

works. But it outputs this:

(eog:8645): dconf-WARNING **: 12:16:20.341: failed to commit changes to dconf: Error spawning command line “dbus-launch --autolaunch=b08dfa6083e7567a1921a715000001fb --binary-syntax --close-stderr”: Child process exited with code 1

My setup:

eog 42.1-1

on a Wayland session.

Tried the non hardened kernel? How exactly are you loading your session? There should be a shared DBUS instance and it sounds like your DBUS session is broken, what do you get from

printenv | grep DBUS
systemctl --user status

I haven't tried the regular kernel. I've been using the hardened kernel for 5 years now, used it when it was called grsec as well. I'm using GDM to auto-login into a GNOME on Wayland session. This eog problem only started happening after the big GNOME 42 update.
