I looked in the wiki and looked around these forums for DDX Driver Mismatch, and i didnt find anything. Can anyone help?

Looks like Mesa 6.5.1 is used instead of fglrx. Do you have both fglrx-utils and libgl-dri installed somehow?

What kernel are you using?  Did you just upgrade?  What are the versions of fglrx and fglrx-utils you have installed? Are there any error (EE) or warning (WW) lines in /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

k,i did a pacman -Syu and it seems everything is fine, execpt now it cant load the fglrx module...

hi,

to get rid of the AIGLX error put this to the ServerLayout Section of your xorg.conf

Option   "AIGLX" "off"

i dont get any errors in glxinfo anymore, but direct rendering is still off.

Darm - your packages seem to be out of sync - your kernel module (ati-fglrx) version does not match your ati-fglrx-utils version.

adrianc - seems other people are having your same problem - not sure where the fix lies.  I'm not personally having that problem here... I've rebuilt the 8.31.5 stuff without stripping the binaries, see if that helps.  You can grab the non-stripped pkgs here: http://www.archlinux.org/~travis/

Hm - okay, looks like I'll need to rebuild without stripping debugging symbols.

adrianc, can you do me a favour and try ati-fglrx-utils from http://www.archlinux.org/~travis/ (the one you already have installed) with ati-fglrx straight from the repos? (pacman -S ati-fglrx) 

Make sure you do this outside of X, then rmmod fglrx and modprobe fglrx to make sure you're using the right module.

This would really help, 'cause I think the problem would only be with ati-fglrx-utils but I can't be sure.

i uninstalled both, reinstalled ati-fglrx from the repos, and had this ati-fglrx-utils , i did it outside of X, and then i restarted, started X, and direct rendering didnt work

hi,
    Had the same problems after doing a "pacman -Syu", I'd hoped to get started doing some OpenGL stuff.  Just wanted to confirm, downloading & installing the ati-fglrx* stuff worked like a charm.  I switched to single-user mode & used the --upgrade option with pacman on the files and then rebooted, worked like a charm for me.  (pacman --upgrade ati-fglrx-utils-8.31.5-1.pkg.tar.gz for example)  Thanks all for the info!  OpenGL here I come...

Just a note, the newest packages in the repos (8.32.5) should be built the same way as the ones on my webspace, so this problem shouldn't arise after a pacman -Syu anymore.

... That's bizarre.  I used the same PKGBUILDs as the ones I provided on my webspace.

What's your output of 

dmesg | grep fglrx

and 

pacman -Qs ati-fglrx

    Just did pacman -Syu and it worked fine for me, fps even went up in fgl_glxgears  (**  er, probably cause I had only xterm open along with it!  **).  This is at 10:30am EST Tuesday, Dec. 19.  Maybe the downloaded packages got installed again, not the repo ones for adrianc?

ohno!   Well 8.32.5-1 seems not to be working upon reboot, anyone else having this problem?  Could the new driver be busted?  adrianc, what was the mistake you were making, perhaps I'm making it too?  Trying to run fgl_glxgears with 8.32.5-1 driver I get:

Some google searching reveals this to be a bigger problem than Arch alone...

I haven't yet found any definite solutions though.
