mplayer controls?

Installed mplayer to view .mp4 video file after having multiple crashes with vlc codecs.

Video works!

But has no controls.

Is there a way to skip or "fast forward" an mp4 video using mplayer?

Re: mplayer controls?

It's usually controlled with the keyboard. See the man page.

Left and right arrows go backwards/forwards 10 seconds.

Up and down arrow go backwards/forwards 1 minute.

PageUp and PageDown go backwards/forwards 10 minutes.

Brackets [ ]  slow down or speed up playback speech by smaller increments, braces { } by larger increments and backspace returns to normal.

There's lots of other keyboard controls if you read the man page.

You might prefer mpv if you want something broadly similar but with gui controls.

There are also GUI frontends for mpv with more traditional interfaces like menus or file open: https://archlinux.org/packages/?sort=&q … =&flagged=
