Arimo switching to Arimo Bold when italicized in Chromium
I'm seeing Chrome (and Chromium) pick Arimo Bold over Arimo Regular for italicized regular-weight text: I've verified that this happens on a fresh installation, and have written the instructions for installing a minimal VM to reproduce the issue on the Chromium bugtracker.
This behavior isn't appearing on Debian, and it's only just started occurring on Arch; does anyone have any ideas as to what could be causing this?

But why am I only seeing this behavior in Chromium now, and not Firefox? Has Chromium only recently switched to parsing some metadata that Firefox ignores?
