A long time ago i switched from Ext4 to BTRFS by following The Wiki, (everything went fine so i don't think it does matter, but it was worth mentioning).
However, everytime i boot the system, "kworker/u64:x+btrfs-cache" start doing his things slowing down boot process.
I started noticing this behavior when the filesystem started filling a little (about 70% full).
I found out this process was trashing the disk by running "iotop" immediately at tty login.
It's worth noting that running a full-balance resolve the issue for few days (i'm not sure what triggers it tho, moving files again?)
It wouldn't be a problem if the issue wasn't so evident but it added like 30 secs more to boot time (from 1:15 to 1:40? lol) [this happen only when i don't run balance for months otherwise is usually less]
Switching back to Ext4 would be a real PITA and i would prefer to avoid it, i tried:
- Disabling CoW
-Playing with ALOT of mount options
Current mount options
rw,nobarrier, noatime, nodatacowEDIT: From the research i made i found this thread which might be useful for someone for knowledgable than me on this matter
