Autostart PIA to tray

I'm running Arch Linux 5.17.8 with i3gaps installed and I'm trying to get pia to quietly autostart at boot. I can get it to run at startup easily by adding the following to my i3 config file,

`exec_always --no-startup-id /opt/piavpn/bin/pia-client`

However this always brings up the connection window. I want to open PIA and have it open only in the tray. I had it working somehow on my old Arch install but can't get it to work now. Also, I have tried the in app start on boot option and that does nothing.

I had a look at the wiki but couldn't find anything which was specifically about this.

Any suggestions?
