Hi guys
I have installed many distro before arch, and i have always the same problem. Actually i have arch with lxqt on hp pavilion dv5 1210el. Any time i start my laptop and the left touchpad button don't work. Next any 5-10 minutes, the button work again. If i reboot the system, any time the button work, any time no... This problem is random and i can't find a solution... Any idea? Tnx

Rather sounds like a hardware problem.
Its an old device. Many suffered from new RoHS directive (lead-free solder-joint reliability). Temperature dependent behavior is a typical symptom (broken BGA joints). Just a guess though.
Maybe the microswitch is just worn out/dirty.

I agree it sounds like flaky hardware. You could try a workaround with multitouch (if the touchpad supports ir)

I don't think an hardware problem, because if i connect an usb mouse, then next the button work again next any seconds...the same if i reboot the system 1 or 2 time, the button work. The connector is clean, i have open the machine 3 weeks ago for fix the cooler fan.

Maybe a power rail is weak or a capacitor dry. Same behavior if you run it on AC-only, battery-only and mixed?
The external mouse works properly?
Look up with 'lsusb -vt' if the touchpad is on a shared controller. Maybe you can disable some possibly interfering devices in BIOS.

This machine work only ac because the battery don't work. External mouse work good without problem.
