The system freezes completely a short while after booting the live image, the delay seems to be random.
HW:
MSI MEG X570 UNIFY
AMD R9 5950X
4x32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3600
Nvidia RTX 3090 FE
I have used the system for a bit over a year, with Windows. It started freezing like that during normal use and during 95% of boot attempts. I thought this issue was caused by Windows, hence the switch to Arch.
I have confirmed that neither the GPU nor the RAM are to blame (exact same issue with different GPU; completed the entire memtest86 suite without errors).
I am able to use the UEFI settings interface and simple utilities like Ventoy and memtest86 without issues. The crash only seems to happen when booting a proper OS.
Any help would be appreciated.

How many passes?
You really need to leave it running at least overnight to pick up any sporadic errors.

One, took >5h on one core. Will do 4 passes in parallel and report if anything occurs.
Though I think it should've already picked up on an issue that happens every time?

try:
-re-seat ram sticks
-re-plug all psu connectors
-re-seat cpu
-reset/clear the cmos
-try with only 1 stick of ram
-update bios or downgrade if using the latest.
-try with another psu if available
-try different cpu
........ you get the idea
pretty much just trial and error till you find the culprit
EDIT: also see this thread https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?thre … ze.344085/ , sounds sort of similar to your problem and cant hurt to try

Holy crap, setting the clock manually worked! Really thought I had to RMA the CPU...
Assuming it's MSI jank and it somehow wants to set the clock to 0?...
You saved me a long and potentially costly process, thanks!
