ZFS zed config

I am running Arch on OpenZFS and it works great. Several times I have tried to get zfs-zed running but with no success. The online wikis and tutorials make it look easy so I must be missing something.

I have tried several different smtp servers as well as several email clients. Is anyone here running zfs-zed, and if so how did you get it up and running?
