Arduino Port Working Fine, but now greyed out after unplugging board.

Hi all,

What happened?

- I am following an adafruit arduino tutorial and uploaded some code to the arduino successfully via the IDE (v1.8.19); and
- I unplugged the USB lead to power down the arduino so I could rewire some components on the breadboard
- When I tried to upload the next sketch, there was an error and port in the Tools menu is greyed out
- the arduino board itself is fine - I can see it TX-ing as per the loaded sketch.

What have I tried:
- waiting 5 mins or so - no change
- trying another USB port - no change
- rebooting - no change
- shutting down and re-starting - no change
- as above but with laptop battery removed - no change

I recall having this issue before, but my google-fu has failed me, and I haven't found the solution. It must be a simple fix - all I did was unplug the board.

Any help would be appreciated.
