[SOLVED] Keyboard inputs sometimes do not get recognized

SOLUTION: The errors "your system is too slow" can be safely ignored, and if you notice inputs not being recognized and play Minecraft, you should switch to an unaffected version (>=1.19, <1.13)

Hi,

I use Arch for a few years now without any issues, except for one long standing issue that I investigated today, which I couldn't find a fix for.

During gaming, I have noticed that my keyboard's inputs sometimes do not get recognized, e.g. pressing down control and space at the same time sometimes causes the space to not be recognized by the game. A lot of googling later I looked into the xorg logs and noticed the following error:

[ 425.139] (EE) event11 - Logitech Logi TKL Mechanical Keyboard: client bug: event processing lagging behind by 29ms, your system is too slow

I opened Minecraft to test this behaviour with the log file tailed on its side to see if I would get the same error message again. I did. But it was super inconsistent, and I wouldn't get the error message every time Minecraft didn't recognize an input.

I have also tested this with two different keyboards, different USB slots, on an EndeavourOS live USB and even on Wayland. I had the same issue every time. Even my prior Arch installs had the issue of some inputs not getting recognized. I'm currently running kernel version 5.18.9.

These threads having seemingly the same issue did not help me:

Re: [SOLVED] Keyboard inputs sometimes do not get recognized

During gaming

Start by ruling out the game.
Run "xev -event keyboard | grep state" and try to reproduce this (ctrl is 0x4, 0x14 means you've the numlock on, that's ok)

Re: [SOLVED] Keyboard inputs sometimes do not get recognized

I cannot seem to reproduce this using xev and the error is way less common if not in a game, but it did not impact anything, because the system still recognizes the input at last. The errors happen independently, but they aren't meaningful in any way. Seems like this is a game issue, possibly java issue, after all that I have to figure out myself.

Edit: I can't believe it. I am not the only one to experience this issue, and the nearly 5 year old bug just recently got fixed as seen here: https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-122421 The log file was just a red herring.

Re: [SOLVED] Keyboard inputs sometimes do not get recognized

Physical LEGO allows you to brick as many bricks simultanously as you can hold in your hands wink

Please always remember to mark resolved threads by editing your initial posts subject - so others will know that there's no task left, but maybe a solution to find.
Thanks.
