usb mic [solved]

Hi,

trying to get a usb mic working ... dmesg shows

input: C-Media USB Headphone Set as /class/input/input6
input: USB HID v1.00 Device [C-Media USB Headphone Set ] on usb-0000:00:1d.7-1.2

have added snd_usb_audio to modules ....

EDIT set up skype input & output works fine now

Re: usb mic [solved]

some extra info to load the module (does not hold reboot, add to modules.conf)
$ modprobe snd-usb-audio
to adjust mic and phone levels
$ alsamixer -c 1

Card: Logitech USB Headset                                                   │
│ Chip: USB Mixer                                                              │
│ View: [Playback] Capture All │
│ Item: Mic [dB gain=-35.06]

questions: how to select output device on Kmix ? shows in skype (but does not change after applying) and kmix does not give option to change device. i have the option to unplug the mic and phone jack from the usb adapter that came with USB logitech headset, but, since i have the usb adapter i want to figure out how to make it work.
