Startx failing at first then automatically tries again and succeeds

So, on startup I have set up automatic login and automatic start.
However, when booting startx fails with an fatal server error, no screens found and it hangs there a few seconds. After that it automatically tries again and succeeds, launching into i3.
I would love to show the entire logfile but I suspect the second start overwrites it and no longer has the error message there. All in all, this is just slightly annoying and not system breaking, however I'm fairly sure something is indeed broken in my system.

I also can't quite quit i3 with Mod+Shift+E as after it exits it restarts in a few seconds, and this might be related.

All the relevant files that I could think of are here,
and thanks for all the help in advance.
