[SOLVED] pacman installing read only kernel

EDIT: worked it out. solved.

Hi

I was trying something earlier today to move my esp to /efi from /boot using rEFInd as I wanted my kernels to be on the btrfs fs for snapshots.

After remounting the esp to the new location and doing the refind configs, I used pacman to reinstall the kernels and intel-ucode and mkinitcpio to create initramfs.img files into /boot which was now on the root fs. But all the *.img files and kernels pacman installed (linux and linux-zen) were read-only and I dont understand why.

For now I've just reverted the esp to what it was before so i can boot again. any idea why this would happen? i cant find anything in the wiki this time about this.
