[USER ERROR] Upgrade to 5.18.12 fails trying to find i915 cannot start

I upgraded as usual and then couldn't start X because it cannot find i915. Downgraded back to 5.18.10 and all works fine.

Anyone else have this problem? Any possible fix (other than downgrading the kernel)?

On a "failing boot" what's your output of uname -a ? if it isn't showing a 5.8.12 kernel like you'd expect then your boot loader/boot partition setup is borked in which case you might want to post

lsblk -f
file /boot/vmlinuz-linux

and elaborate on your bootloader config

Sorry...my mistake. Put USER ERROR in subject line, so hopefully this post will now be ignored.
