[Gnome@Xorg] Disappearing cursor.

After the latest `gnome:43.3` update, my cursor got missing.
I'm using `Xorg:21.1.4` with `nvidia-dkms:515.57@GTX970`
with a Wacom tablet as a cursor input device.
I tried both `gdm` and `startx` with the same results.
The cursor appears for a split sec before `gnome-shell` take over
and after that it disappears forever, leaving me with
eyeballing its position or using `ctrl` to sonar ping it.

Old `Xfce4:4.16.0` DE works fine, though.

Re: [Gnome@Xorg] Disappearing cursor.

Try

Option "SWCursor" "True"

(xorg.conf.d option, "Device" Section)
If that doesn't change anything, maybe gnome is just "using" a missing cursor theme?

Newer used a cursor theme, also SWcursor has no effect on gnome and is causing some artifacts in Xfce4 DE.

Re: [Gnome@Xorg] Disappearing cursor.

Do you get a cursor when attaching a mouse instead of the tablet?
Gnome might misinterpret it as a touchscreen?

Re: [Gnome@Xorg] Disappearing cursor.

Yep, disconnecting the tablet before calling `startx` prevents the cursor from getting ghostified.
Reconnecting it after gnome-shell starts keeps the cursor visible.
Can't really tell if this is a configuration issue or problem in the gnome:42.3 implementation.
~Will push a bug report upstream, let's see how devs feel about it.~
Ok, it's a known problem: https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/gnome-sh … ssues/5626
