Problems with shutting down and suspending

I am using Arch Linux on a Lenovo Thinkpad T460p.
I have been having this problem for a while now where when I select shut down, the computer will beep and hang after some time. The power light turns off, but the FnLock light and the fan will still be running. Journalctl doesn't show anything that will lead me to believe something's wrong and the problem seems to be happening after journal stops. I remember seeing unable to mount /oldroot or something like that. It happens almost every time and it's annoying. A similar problem happens when suspending. But the journal there may provide some useful information.
Here is the journal for both.

Things I have tried include:

  • Trying the same thing from X11 (I'm using Wayland session)

  • Shutting down from tty2

  • Switching to LTS kernel

Additional notes:

  • Thinkpad T460p has Optimus with Intel HD Graphics 530 and Nvidia GeForce 940MX. The drivers may be causing the problem, but I'm not sure.

  • I'm using GNOME with Wayland.

  • I have a Windows installation on another disk, but the problem was there before I installed Windows.

Apologies if it isn't very clear. I'm not used to post things often.

Re: Problems with shutting down and suspending

Try to add "reboot=bios" to the https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Kernel_parameters and regardless of "the problem was there before I installed Windows" see the 3rd link below.
