[Solved]Steam doesn't start, no output when I run 'steam' in terminal.

After a tragic accident with pacman and Xorg, leading me to almost give up and reinstall (unfortunately I can't, more on that in a different topic as its a totally different issue), and reinstalling Steam. It no longer runs. Here's the output of steam:

I've searched the first 2 pages of google and all of the arch wiki pages within, as well as other wikis, etc. Now, the fact that a bunch of library files are missing isn't good, so I will try reinstalling these libraries. Oh, and even worse news. A LOT of packages and dependencies of packages have errors for empty libraries. So something is SERIOUSLY wrong. Though I won't talk about those here, I only have one goal and that's to get steam working so I can finally get some one taps in cs:go.

I really don't want to reinstall arch, it's a last resort.

I have determined a lot more is broken than Steam:

    ~  file /usr/bin/zenity                                                                                                                                    ✔ 
/usr/bin/zenity: empty

Corrupted Packages! That's probably why steam can't function. The runtime launcher is 100% bash, which also has dependencies. Zenity probably being one of those. No errors? That's because the file exists but isn't there.

Oh this is the output of 'zenity' after reinstalling it

After reinstalling that library I get

after reinstalling and overwriting all the corupted dependencies, Steam now DOES something when I try to run it. A popup box saying 'Couldn't find Steam content, did you move it?' with a good ol' reinstall button. Great!

Guess what the log said? More corrupted empty .so files! Time to overwrite those!

I reinstalled every single dependency required by Steam. Overwrote the files, yet steam still doesn't run? What's going on? To fix this, I've found a script on a website ( i read it, it uses both half-decent practices and does nothing bad ) that runs through EVERY broken package and force reinstalls it. So this will fix the dozens of broken components of my Arch system.

Update: This script has been running for 5 minutes already, that means I must've broke a lot.

Update 2: Midway through the script, I tried running Steam. Now it works, so I can mark this as solved. Big thanks to the dude who made the post at https://unix.stackexchange.com/question … em-upgrade. (2nd answer) for absolutely saving my system with that script! Without it, I would of had to find and reinstall all these broken files myself. I can now mark this as solved.

Update: Some rather, interesting packages had broken files. Like.. systemd? What did I do to this system, jeez. Anyway, solved!
